GlycoPol™ is a novel range of glycopolymers that can
be structurally tuned
to provide targeted delivery of therapeutics.
Transition Metal Mediated Living Radical Polymerisation (TMM-LRP), which
allows tight control over the molecular weight and
architecture of polymers, is used to form a polymer backbone such as
methacrylate. The
desired sugar molecules are then covalently bound to the polymer backbone to give the desired glycopolymer.
Mono-, di- and polysaccharides can all be used for the synthesis of a range of
glyco polymers in GlycoPol™.
Libraries of
sugar polymers featuring materials with identical size polymer backbones, but
differing only in the nature of the pendant sugar moieties can be readily
prepared.
