Overview
WEP is engaged in the development and manufacture of novel, high value, functional polymers using proprietary technologies. The Company was founded in 2001 as a spin-out from the University of Warwick.
Our Living Radical Polymerisation (LRP) allows precise control over the production of a wide range of complex polymers and has broad applicability in the production of novel specialised polymers for the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Speciality Material industries.
WEP’s activities are focused in two main business areas: Biopolymers and Speciality Polymers.
Biopolymers
Our core biopolymer technologies, PolyPEG® and GlycoPol™, are designed to enhance biological therapeutics (biopharmaceuticals) to extend circulatory half-life and reduce dosing frequency, and provide an approach to drug targeting. PolyPEG® and GlycoPol™ can be designed to meet the specific product profile requirements of a biological therapeutic, as well as offering a means of product differentiation.
PolyPEG® - Novel, low viscosity, comb-shaped PEG-containing polymers for half-life extension of biological therapeutics, including proteins, peptides and oligonucleotide-based therapeutics.
GlycoPol™ - Proprietary glycopolymers with multi-valent carbohydrate functionality enabling carbohydrate modification for tissue targeting and half-life extension.
Speciality polymers
Our proprietary polymerisation technologies are used in a wide variety of high value, polymer material applications and enable multiple functionalities to be combined within a single polymer. Such specialised polymers can be used, for example, in the medical device, coating, personal care, dispersant and other industries.
How we work
WEP works with its partners to develop and manufacture specific polymers to meet their product requirements. If you would like to discuss a specific polymer requirement in either the biopolymer or speciality polymer area, please contact us at: enquiries@wep-ltd.co.uk
