PolyPEG® - Enhancing biologicals
PolyPEG® provides a novel and differentiated approach to enhancing biological therapeutics, such as proteins, peptides and oligonucleotide-based therapeutics. This proprietary, next generation PEGylation technology is based on low viscosity, comb-shaped polymers comprising short PEG chains or “teeth” of 0.5, 1 or 2 kDa attached to a poly(methacrylate) backbone.
The key benefits of PolyPEG® include:
Low viscosity
Even PolyPEG®s of 100 kDa molecular weight have low viscosity, ensuring that biological therapeutics with high dose requirements can be administered easily thereby improving patient compliance.
Large structural diversity
PolyPEG® polymers are built unidirectionally using Living Radical Polymerisation which ensures a high level of control over polymer synthesis is achieved allowing a wide range of structures and sizes to be produced. PolyPEG®s in the size range 10 to 80+ kDa can be synthesised for attachment to biological molecules using standard and novel chemistries via a single active conjugating group.
Absence of vacuolisation
The PEG teeth are attached to the poly(methacrylate) backbone via ester linkages, which degrade over time. Thus all the components of PolyPEG® are small enough to be readily excreted from the body via the kidneys thereby avoiding tissue accumulation on repeat dosing.
